(Updated 02/04/2024)

Welcome to the website for the 2024 Gate Gallop!

The 2024 event will take place on the rearranged date of Sunday 28th July at the Anker Valley Sports Complex in Amington, Tamworth. It is an off road, traffic free event organised by the Peel Road Runners and is part of the Burton and District Summer League. We’re offering our usual line-up of events including the ~600 m Children’s run, a 4.4k Fun Run (ages 9 and above) and a 10k Race (ages 15 and over). For more details on any of these events, click here to be directed to the “events” tab. All events are mass-start, we will again operate the ever-popular cake stall and as usual, all proceeds from the event will go to St Giles Hospice.

Online entries are now open, and this year we’ll be offering on the day entries for an additional £2 surcharge. If you’ve entered online, you’ll pick up your number on the day from the registration desk. This will close 15 min before each event, so please aim to arrive with plenty of time to park up and register.

Entries for the Children’s run are on the day only (£3), with registration from 9 am.

Medals will be provided to all of the winners. This year we’ve got an exciting new medal for the 10k!

We thank the local landowners J R Gilman & Son Ltd and Graham Lee for their continued support for the race. The course is run over a mixture of public rights of way and private land and without their support it couldn’t run.

We would like to thank the following companies, individuals and organisations for their support for the 2023 event, with prizes, gifts, donations and various other services. Thanks to their generosity, and to the runners who entered the events, over £5k was raised.

Next, Alpha Running, Leicester Running Shop, Coventry Runner, Sutton Runner, KEP Print Group, Roddas Clotted Cream, Lumber Jaxs, Greggs, Echills Wood Railway, Mala Leather, West Midlands Safari Park, The Real Pork Company, The Staffordshire Regiment Museum, Swadlincote Snowsports Centre, Suncream, Gail Nichols Nail Instructor, Tamworth FC, PI-KEM, NPF Bassetts Pole, Champneys, ASDA, Claire Guffick, Stephanie Attenborough, Sarah French, Caroline Evans, Ian Archer, Central Logistics, the Snowdome, Tweedle Entertainments, AV timing, St Giles Hospice, Tamworth Council and Tamworth Police Cadets.
